While most dogs will wag their tails at the sight of milk, it is actually not recommended for your dog. Dogs lack the enzymes needed to break down lactose which is the sugar in milk. Without these enzymes, lactose does not get digested and hence ferments in the gastro-intestinal tract of the dog.
This upsets your dog’s stomach and causes diarrhea. It is therefore a bad practice to make milk the primary fluid for your dog. However, a cup every now and then will not harm your dog.
